Severe Storm Force Winds hit WKSC


Wind speeds in excess of 60knots battered the West Kirby Sailing Club boatyard during a spring tide which saw the boat yard flooded and major damaged caused to members boats.

The boatyard fenced has been ripped off the end of the yard. Many dinghies were blown over. The majority of damage was caused by moving objects going through the boat yard. The Cruiser fleet also suffered with all the boats falling on top of one another.

The sea water continued upto the clubhouse and has left a trail of destruction around it.

As ever in these circumstances many members came down to the club to help the boatshed team in anyway they could to recover as many boats as possible.

The car park at the rear entrance to the club is currently closed as a large group of boats have been moved there for safety.

Another hide tide is forecast overnight.
