West Kirby Sailing Club (WKSC) is looking to recruit a motivated, approachable, and enthusiastic individual with a positive attitude and a passion for sailing.
The role is aimed at someone wishing to progress their career and gain experience in water sports instructing. You will be responsible for helping our existing group of volunteers deliver water-based activities to both adults and children. WKSC boasts an active sailing programme which the chosen candidate will help manage and provide rescue boat services where necessary.
The candidate is required to have a basic knowledge of boat maintenance to maintain the upkeep of the Club’s assets.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Work in liaison with Club Captain, Boatman, Training Principal and Flag Officers
- Provide water-based instruction to members and non-members
- Maintain Club rescue services during sailing calendar
- Manage sailing/racing in conjunction with Hon. Sailing Secretary
- Maintain Club assets to WKSC and RYA standards
- Follow Club Health and Safety policies and Club procedures
- Maintain upkeep of Club facilities, Club vessels, members’ vessels, and moorings
Requirements
- Powerboat Level 2
- Powerboat Level 2 Instructor
- RYA Dinghy/Senior Instructor
- Driving license with towing endorsement
- VHF Short Range Radio Certificate
- First Aid (RYA or First Aid at Work)
- Good communication skills
- An in-depth knowledge of sailing, including match & team racing
- Any other ad hoc duties which fall within the individual’s abilities
